Adverbs of Manner

Tell us how an action is performed. Most end in -ly, formed from an adjective.

Real scene: A chef in a busy restaurant kitchen has 3 minutes to plate an order before the ticket times out.
The chef chopped the onions swiftly before the timer buzzed.
She plated the noodles carefully so the sauce didn't spill.

Position of Adverbs

same word, three positions, subtle shift in focus
FRONT Suddenly, the power went out during the exam.
MID The students calmly lit their emergency candles.
END They finished the test anyway.

Front position adds drama or sets the scene; mid position (before the main verb) is common for manner and frequency; end position is the most neutral, everyday placement.
