📌 Learning Objectives
क — Find prime factors of natural numbers ख — Find square roots using prime factorization
Materials: Chart paper, multiplication table, cards with perfect square numbers
🎨 Visual Concept Map
Whole Numbers Concept Map Shows relationship between Whole Numbers, Prime Factorization, and Square Root Whole Numbers (पूर्ण सङ्ख्या) Prime Factors रूढ गुणनखण्ड Square Root वर्गमूल (√) Example: 36 36 = 2×2×3×3 = 2² × 3² Example: √144 144=2×2×2×2×3×3 √144 = 2×3×2 = 12 Prime Numbers 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13... uses uses
Prime Factorization Process
Prime Factorization of 1225 step by step Division ladder showing 1225 divided by 5, 5, 7, 7 to give 1225=5²×7² Start: 1225 ÷ 5 245 ÷ 5 49 ÷ 7 7 ÷ 7 1 done 1225 = 5 × 5 × 7 × 7 = 5² × 7² Therefore √1225 = 5 × 7 = 35 ✓
⚡ Simulation Activities (30 min)
1

Activity 1 (8 min)

Each student picks a number. Using multiplication table, list all numbers whose product equals that number. Discuss: which ones appear only as 1 and itself?

2

Activity 2 (10 min)

Cards with perfect square numbers distributed. Each student does prime factorization of their card, then pairs with a partner to extract the square root.

3

Activity 3 (7 min)

Guided practice: Find √144 using the pairing method. Each pair of prime factors gives one number outside the radical sign. √144 = 2×2×3 = 12

4

Assessment (5 min)

Find √324 individually. Show step-by-step work. Evaluate using rubric: factorization correct? Pairing done? Answer reached?

Key Conclusion (निष्कर्ष): A number whose only factors are itself and 1 is called a prime number (रूढ सङ्ख्या). Any two same prime factors paired together give one factor in the square root.
